No School on April 8--Total Solar Eclipse

Posted Date: 2/02/24 (11:50 AM)

After consultation with school personnel and local officials, Troy ISD has declared April 8 a school holiday as a precautionary measure due to the expected impact of the total solar eclipse on Central Texas.
Local authorities are predicting a large visitor presence that could potentially create traffic issues around town and hinder afternoon student transportation. While the district understands a school closure may be an inconvenience, we believe this is the best decision and hope that communicating this change well in advance will assist families in planning.
Despite the closure, Troy ISD  reassures parents that the school calendar exceeds the instructional minutes required by the Texas Education Agency. The district will not be expected to make up the missed day unless future circumstances cause more cancellations.
