TEEF Grants at Work: Boss Laser Engraver

Thanks to this Troy Education Enhancement Foundation (TEEF) grant, students at Troy High School have gained access to a cutting-edge laser machine, allowing them to create intricate and professional-quality projects.
Inspired by visits to other schools utilizing laser technology, the addition of this machine has significantly expanded hands-on learning opportunities for students in Ag Mechanics and Floral Design. Previously, projects for the Bell County Youth Fair had to be outsourced to other schools, but now, students can design and produce their own creations right on campus.
Already, 135 students have benefited from operating the machine, learning essential skills such as adjusting speed and power settings for precise cuts and burns. These experiences not only enhance their technical knowledge but also provide them with valuable real-world applications in design and craftsmanship.
“We are very appreciative of the machine,” Ag Science Teacher, Mindy Howard shared. “We are excited to continue to learn from the machine and what all it can do.”
With this advanced technology in their hands, students are developing creativity, technical expertise, and confidence—one project at a time.
