FFA Competes in District and State Competitions

Troy High School students enjoyed success at the state FFA contest recently held in Lubbock. 

 

State Contest in Lubbock

 

Agronomy-Logan Chapa, Olivia Dupuis, Brendan Doskocil, Haegen Welch and Chase was 9th place Team

 

Food Science-Taylor Melikan, Landon Chapa, Emily Ward and Shelby Darden were 5th place Team

 

Ag Communication-Nathan Westbrook, Adelyn Valle, AnnaBella Hernandez and Lorelei Peters were 4th.  Adelyn Valle was 3rd High Individual, Nathan Westbrook won the Communication and WebDesign portion of the contest and was the High Point Individual overall.  He will receive a Belt Buckle and a $1,2000 scholarship if he chooses to go to Texas Tech. 

 

Cotton- Mason Miller, Luke McIver, Colton Reavis and Cadie Eat were 3rd place in Area

 

District Convention

 

Kaylee Eaton was elected District President

Nathan Westbrook was elected to serve as an area officer

Logan Chapa won Outdoor Recreation Proficiency

Haegan Welch was named District Star Lonestar Placement

Haegen Welch won Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Proficiency

 

We had 6 students apply for the Texas FFA Scholarship a few weeks ago.  They take the top 25 from each area to move to the next level which is in Austin.  If they make it past area, they will interview for scholarships up to $20,000. Those students are Logan Chapa, Emily Ward, Jordan McMurtry, Taylor Melikan, Adelyn Valle, and Lorelei Peters.
